Tatin Bistro, cakes and empanadas near Sagrada Familia

Tatin Bistro is a small café near Sagrada Familia. It’s managed by a nice argentinian couple, giving their personality to this place. There you can find handmade argentinian empanadas (chicken, humita, spinach with cheese…) and artisan pastry and cakes.

The star is “Tatin” cake (applepie) made following the grandmother’s recipe of one of the owners. Believe me, delicious. The coffee, as the other things here, are made unhurriedly, so a coffee and a piece of cake, a croissant, an alfajor…are a break in our crazy days.

About the place, inside the are 4 wood tables, newspapars, cultural magazines (and travel guide’s) and good music (low enough to avoid you have to talk loud). You can also seat outside, there are a couple of tables.

And you can find some caricatures of some customers on the walls.

In four years in the neighbourhood, Tatin has become one of the referents in the neighbourhood. We need more places like this in these days of artificial coffees.

Sally Sucrà

Sally Sucrà is a nice and quiet place in Bailen Street nb.83 to have a breakfast or a quiet brunch.
There are 2 floors, with more space and tables up. Nice place in a sunny day because of the big windows.

A very kind attention and sweet options (croissant, cookies…) but also different kind of sandwiches.

And coffee from Cafes el Magnifico!
We’ll come back 😉

Bendita Helena, coffee and brunch

We visited Bendita Helena (C/Galileu 261, Les Corts area in Barcelona) after the good experience with their coffee in All Those  last year.

Good coffee made of a blend from Nomad, artisan pastryshop and sorted brunch all day long. They offer also midday menus.

Why “Bendita Helena” (in English: Blessed Helena)? Helena is not the name of the Venezuelan owners (Ana and Valeria). According to Ana,”Blessed” because it is the energy of a dish made with love and with ingredient that makes you good. “Helena” because it was always a name with which Ana had a lot of connection, like an alter ego. So, Bendita Helena sounded pretty and it stayed.

Ana comes from Venezuela and has been traveling arounf the world. She was publicist before starting this business. You can feel this “baggage” in the philosophy of the place.

Warm place, careful details and products choosen and made with love, following our grandma’s style. And also charming owners. Highly recommended!

And since a few months ago, they are taking part in Cooció (Morales St.,27) as a Coffee House. A bigger place in the area and a chance to enjoy of this fantastic project.

Espai Joliu, coffee in Poblenou

Nice place in Poblenou to taste a good coffee (best quality, because it is Nomad’s). It  is placed in Badajoz St., next to the “superilla” of Poblenou, a very quiet space.

Just in the entrance, a lot of plants, like a little home garden. Then, at the end, the bar and the space with wooden tables. Walls are from stone and brick. Confortable.

Another strong point are the home-made pastry. We taste the apple crumble and it was really wood.

About the environment, perfect for hipsters, foreingn young people, people with laptops and curious visitants taking pictures. Or for headhunters! (we heard a job interview in the table next to us). So, you don’t find the newspaper, you can review cool magazines.

And as curiosity, if you ask for a caffe latte, be prepared to the question: “Single or Double” referring to the coffee. I think we are getting older 😉

Have a nice Sunday!!

Satan’s Coffee Corner Coffee in Casa Bonay (Barcelona)

Searching for good coffee next to Tetuan Square in Barcelona, nice surprise.

Inside a beautiful and historical building, now a curious and versatile hotel, Casa Bonay (Gran Vía de les Corts Catalanes, 700) we found a little coffee shop, Satan’s Coffee Corner. The original Satan’s Coffee Corner is in Gòtic area, next the Barcelona’s Cathedral. So, good news for people living outside the city center.

The coffee is fantastic and well-done thanks to the baristas team. You have sweet options, like croissant or donuts from La Donutería, so guaranteed quality.

The coffee shop is small, but surprise: if you want, you can drink your coffee inside the bar restaurant of Casa Bonay, Libertine. It is an open space with the floor like the characteristical Barcelona sidewalk, very comfortable.

So a quiet place to enjoy coffee pleasure in Barcelona. Welcome!

St.Patrick’s Day in Barcelona

Omá Bistro Barcelona

Omá Bistró (Consell de Cent 227) is a bright place near the center, specialized in brunchs. Nordic decoration with wood, metalic chairs of different colours, a big table to share, a comfortable corner with a sofa… It’s perfect for Sunday morning.

They have a varied sort of coffee (espresso, filter,…), homemade cakes and artisan beers.  To eat, bread, eggs, salads and more.

We tasted a burger, a chicken wrap and nuggets. And good coffee (El Magnífico). If you want or need to drink soja milk, then you have to pay a small supplement.

And if you want to stay quietly, reading a book, newspapers, working with your computer sharing you time with some trendy people, that’s a good place. But if you go there with a little boy, it’s good too. There are colour pencils and notebook for children.

So, in summary, kind attention, comfortable place and good food. An attractive combination if you are in Barcelona.
