September 23, 2013

During this week Barcelona is celebrating La Mercè, the popular annual festival with concerts, activities or sorted cultural offers all over the city, especially in city center.

One of the gastronomic activities you can find is the “Mostra de Vins i Caves” in Passeig Lluis Companys (next to Arc de Triomf). There you can taste and discover different Catalan wines and “cavas”.

This year, the new El Born Centre Cultural has opened its doors in the neighbourhood of La Ribera. It’s an interesting visit and after that, you can eat something in El Born. Some ideas in our post about Montcada Street: https://notonlyeating.wordpress.com/2013/09/01/carrermontcada/

Proving the importance of the gastronomy, this year, the opening speech of the festival was read by Ferran Adrià. The title was “Restaurant La Felicitat“. The meaning is Restoring/Restaurant the Hapiness, a wordplay in CatalanHe talked about the “Happiness Recipe” and proposed a Mercè’s special dish. Why doesn’t exist yet? We hope next year we can taste it!
