Le Pain Quotidien: from New York to Barcelona

Le Pain Quotidien is more than a bakery. The original idea from Alain Coumont was to make artisan bread (daily bread), in a classical way, avoiding industrial ingredients and to create a space to feel like at home.

Now you can find a broad offer of bread, pastry, brunch, coffee… The philosophy is to use organic ingredients (organic coffee or chocolate) and there you can find home made products, a varied sort of toasts (with fresh salmon,cheese,etc), pastry pieces and some tarlets.

We visited the store in 65 Bleecker St. and we tasted there the plain croissant and pain au chocolate, to take away. We could see some of the homemade marmalade and the atelier is open, you can see it from the street.

In Barcelona we visited the store in Provença St. 300, and we tasted the Belgium chocolate, coffee and an apple crumble, really delicious.

Inside there are wood tables, in the middle a long table to share with other people just to have a coffee or a meal.

The atmosphere is very comfortable, you have magazines and of course, a book of recipes from Alain Coumont. All the places have the same structure. It’s a really good place to have a warm cup of coffee, simple and healthy.
