El Poblenou

March 15, 2015

El Poblenou, a quiet neigbourhood close to the sea in Barcelona. The main axis is La Rambla del Poblenou, perfect to take a walk in a sunny day. There are also ahidden corners and small streets making this place very interesting.

Here you go some of our recommendations in the neighbourhood:

El Tío Che (Rambla del Poblenou 44-46) Best horchata in Barcelona? It depends on your own criteria, but for sure in Tío Che you can find one of the most well-known horchata in the city, good and traditional. A must.

Can Recasens (Rambla del Poblenou 102): An old butcher’s shop, placed in a modernist building. There you can find “torrades” (toasted bread with tomato, Catalan tradition) and varied sort of cheesses, cold meat, ham and salads. It is really worth visiting this place but normally there are long queues (photss by Vipgourmet)

Kuletos (Dr.Trueta St. 220): also placed in a modernist building, it is a restaurant with sorted dishes. Fish is good. And the menu also includes Recasens’ cold meat.

Els Pescadors (Plaça Prim, 1): placed in one of the most beautiful squares in Barcelona, it is a traditional restaurant specialized in fresh fish. High quality and high prices. The square is in an old fishermen neighbourhood, with small houses and impressive old trees in the middle of the square. It is especially beatiful in summer.

Racó de la Vila (Ciutat de Granada, 33): tradional catalan restaurant, that looks like an old masia. Inside, different dining rooms.

Timesburg (Pujades St. 168): If you want a complete burger, this is your place. There are different Timesburg in Barcelona. There you can find big burgers and quality meat. Burger with foie and onion, delicious.

Vermut time? Then, 2 options. If you want tradition, you have La Pubilla del Taulat (Marià Aguiló St. 131), old cellar and traditional tapas. If you want a fashion place, Balius Bar (Pujades St.96), cocktails and vermouths.

Carrot Café (Tanger St 22): sandwiches and cakes. Closer to Glories than to Rambla de Poblenou, an interesting place.

In the neighbourhood you will find more things: Casino Aliança del Poblenou, cultural events,  La Ovella Negra, big place to have a beer starting the night, Razzmatazz , music and concerts (by the way, good bar to eat a sandwich before a concert, in Pamplona St 91, Pepes Bar, a museum of rock), Mercat del Poblenou traditional market, Palo Alto , space recovered where there is a fashion market some weekends and  No llegiu, a curious bookshop that offer some other cultural activities.

So, a neighbourhood to discover!
